Cambodia Gambling Dens

[ English ]

There is a captivating story to the Cambodia gambling dens that lie just over the border from neighboring Thailand, in which casino betting is not allowed. Eight gambling halls are established in a generally tiny space in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling dens is in a perfect destination, a three to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular betting locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The amazing income gained from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million dollars, and there are a couple of controls requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mostly Thai; although, funding sources are ambiguous. The borders are formally open from 09:00 to 1700, and although visas are supposedly required to cross, there are methods and means around this, as is correct of most border crossings.

The initial Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just one gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored ship gambling hall, features one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 60 tables. The Naga river boat is open all hours with forty two tables of mini-baccarat, four tables of 21, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long followed. There are 150 one armed bandits and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred slot machines and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machines and 96 table games, including eighty seven baccarat (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machines and 66 of the familiar table games, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a multinational vacation and hotel building that contains numerous amenities accompanying the gambling hall, which houses 10,000 sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machines and eighty eight gaming tables.
