Cambodia Gambling Dens

There is a captivating history to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just over the border from next door Thailand, where casino wagering is not permitted. Eight gambling halls are based in a relatively small location in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling dens is in a prime location, a 3 to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest wagering locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The amazing income gained from the casinos ranges from 7.5 million dollars to more than 12.5 million dollars, and there are a number of restrictions constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is assumed to be largely Thai; however, funding sources are ambiguous. The borders are officially open from 9:00 a.m. to 1700, and despite the fact visas are supposedly necessary to cross, there are ways around this, as is correct of most borders.

The original Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary barge gambling hall, contains 150 one armed bandits and 60 gaming tables. The Naga gambling den never closes with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, 4 tables of blackjack, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly followed. A total of one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 one armed bandits and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven punto banco (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and sixty six of the normal table games, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 casinos in Poipet, also a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slots and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an international vacation and hotel complex that features a number of comforts accompanying the gambling den, which offers ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 slots and 88 table games.
