There is a captivating history to the Cambodia gambling halls that reside just across the dividing line from next door Thailand, where casino wagering is not legal. Eight gambling dens are based in a relatively small area in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia casinos is in a perfect destination, a 3 to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest gambling centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai laborers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The amazing income gained from the gambling dens ranges from $7.5 million to more than 12.5 million, and there are a number of limitations constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is presumed to be largely Thai; although, funding sources are cryptic. The borders are ceremoniously open from 9:00 a.m. to 1700, and although visas are supposedly necessary to pass, there are methods and means around this, as is accurate of many borders.
The 1st Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving only one gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked barge gambling hall, highlights 150 one armed bandits and 60 tables. The Naga casino never closes with forty two tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of blackjack, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The initial gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon followed. A total of 150 slots and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred slot machine games and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and ninety six table games, including 87 baccarat banque (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and 66 of the familiar gaming tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an international resort and hotel complex that contains numerous comforts in addition to the gambling den, which has ten thousand square feet of 130 one armed bandits and eighty eight table games.
